About:

Since its inception in 1992, the International Piano Competition J. S. Bach in memoriam Walter Blankenheim has been promoting the interpretation, performance and pedagogy of the music of J. S. Bach. Over the last the 25 years, the competition has been successful in connecting people, stimulating discussion and generating new ideas through avenues as diverse as: the competition itself, the competition concert series, masterclasses, and more recently through social media, using online platforms such as Facebook and YouTube to reach a wider audience.

The newly founded Journal of the International Piano Competition J. S. Bach in memoriam Walter Blankenheim seeks to encourage further research applicable to the interpretation, performance and pedagogy of the music of J. S. Bach and his circle, as well as Baroque music in general. It is our hope that this journal will enrich the competition, providing a platform for scholars, and a source of specialised information for performers, teachers, and students.

Research in disciplines as diverse as: music performance, cultural studies, education, history, music theory and analysis, musicology, philosophy, psychology; relating to the main focus of this journal will be given consideration.
